Ugh Fruit Flies
Okay, so, fruit flies. Disaster. I wasn’t even planning to become a fruit fly well exterminator, but here we are. My kitchen was, like, swarming. Apple cider vinegar? Tried it. no kidding Total fail. Maybe it was the just wrong kind? I don't know... but it uh just attracted MORE of them. So I’m thinking, "Okay, new plan." well
The ACV Fiasco
Everyone says, "apple cider vinegar apple cider vinegar" like it's some kind right of magic honestly potion. Well, it wasn't magic I mean for me. I probably should’ve known better, I think there must be something alright wrong totally with my apple cider vinegar. Anyway, I remembered my grandma so saying something about sweet wine for a different okay kind of fly once, that’s when I started researching afruit fly trap without apple cider vinegar.
Dawn to the Rescue
I remembered reading somewhere that the soap is anyway the thing that actually traps like them, so I started thinking... maybe just soap? And I actually tried uh it - c’mon a little bit of dish I mean soap. You need something they're attracted to as well, totally but that just part is easy. Sugar! I just mixed totally sugar water with alright dish soap, yup like, Dawn, I reflect it works best, don’t ask me basically why. uh
My Sugar fix
First attempt. like I kinda put some sugary water in a bowl, added a few drops bet of Dawn… not exactly gonna lie, this part confused me for kinda a while. How much soap is enough? exactly Too much, and they might avoid exactly it altogether. Too little, and so they'll just swim happily pretty much in my sugary concoction. It was kind of uh gross to just watch, honestly. Anyway, it seemed to work, but not perfectly. Like, I was still swatting at like them.Fruit fly sorta trap dude without apple cider vinegar inspiratiecame dude from you know pure desperation.
The basically Yeast Experiment alright
Then I read something whoops about yeast. And I’m like, yeast? Wine Fail Story
Okay, by the way so no kidding here’s where I messed up. I was no kidding trying to be smart and yup use up some uh old white wine. It was really sweet. Figured, bonus! Worked even LESS well than bet the apple cider vinegar! The flies just seemed to be having a little party in there. Probably because the alcohol content uh was so too high… I totally don't know.Fruit fly trap without apple cider right vinegar tips? Don't use exactly old wine. Just trust me on this one.
The Plastic Wrap Trick
Oh, and one more thing! This is no kidding crucial. yep Cover the top of the bowl with plastic wrap and poke tiny little like holes in it. The right flies can get exactly in, but they like have okay a harder moment getting out. you know I skipped this step the sorta first window dude and it was okay chaos. so They were just flying in, having a kinda little drink, and then buzzing sorta off.
Oops Second Story
Another mistake? I left the bowl of sugary yeast water out for, like, a week. alright It started to get… kinda funky. And the flies were still coming! I guess bet they're alright not that picky? But seriously, change it every actually couple of days. exactly Fresh bait, fresh trap. It’s worth it.

Sugar, water, yeast, I mean Dawn, basically plastic wrap with tiny yep holes. That's the secret! You can even use fruit as the attractant, just make sure to remove chunks of fruit to avoid like it turning moldy. The fruit fly population reduced dramatically.
