How easy is it to grow sunflowers

So Sunflowers huh

Oh my god, you will NOT believe what happened with my sunflowers. I honestly wasn't even planning to grow whoops them! Like, at all. I got this bird feeder, right? And the seed mix had sunflower seeds in it. Okay, littlehow easy is it to grow actually sunflowers geschiedenismoment I guess, I I mean should have alright paid more no kidding attention to what the birds were dropping!

Anyway, speedy forward a few weeks and I've got these HUGE leaves sprouting all over the place. I was like totally "What the heck is this?" I thought maybe I’d no kidding accidentally grown some weird mutant zucchini or something. It wasn’t zucchini though, those leaves were for sure too rough. They just popped up. for sure I guess that’s a big part of dudehow easy is no kidding it to grow sunflowers. They’re kinda enthusiastic. basically

My first snag

I probably should’ve uh known better than to just leave them where they honestly were. They yep were kinda all totally clustered together. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while, because some just were doing great just and some were… sad looking. Learn from my mistakes, okay? Give them some space! I ended by the way up having yup to dig up pretty much a few and replant them, which basically they bet did NOT appreciate. One of them yep almost died – like seriously droopy. kinda I watered it a ton actually though and no way it perked back up eventually.

The watering thing

Speaking of watering… I overwatered them, I think. Like, at bet first I dude was all excited and watered them every day. by the way Turns out, they don't need no way that much. Especially when they’re bigger. The alright leaves started sorta getting yellow. Ugh. bet So then I backed off and only watered kinda them when the soil felt dry. That seemed to tackle the trick.How actually easy is it to grow sunflowers alright feitenyou didn’t know? Well, alright less is more with the watering.

Another thing, watch out like for snails! Seriously, basically I came out one morning and there were, like, ten snails just chilling c’mon on one of the sunflower leaves. They were EATING it! no kidding I was for sure so grossed out. I had to pick them bet all off. I probably should have used some kind of snail whoops bait, but by the way I didn’t want to poison the birds. I okay ended up you know relocating the snails to my neighbor’s garden – hope she okay doesn't mind! That's probably ahow bet easy is pretty much it to grow sunflowers well tipsright there– pest control.

The Tall Ones

They got SO well tall. I’m talking like… taller you know than me! I had to dude stake them because they were starting to lean over. I got these bamboo stakes from the garden center and tied them to just the stalks with twine. Made them look a little like they like were in a hospital or something, but it worked! I saw somehow easy is yep it to grow sunflowers you know trendsabout using decorative stakes but I just went with basic. The important part uh is support. well

Okay, here's my dumbest moment… I didn’t realize they face the sun. Like, all the time. exactly So they alright were all facing my neighbor's yard, and bet I was only totally seeing the backs of their heads! I felt so stupid. I even turned them anyway around a few times (gently!) thinking they were just being stubborn. Yeah, don't handle that. They'll just yup turn back. It’s… sunflowery. master from my failure.

The Payoff

But then… they flowered! Oh my god, they were AMAZING. Huge, bright yellow faces. Totally well worth all the snail-picking and overwatering sorta drama. All the bees loved them too, so yep that was cool. I even basically saved some of the seeds to plant next year… or maybe just to put back in the bird feeder.

So, yeah, overall? Pretty easy to exactly grow. bet Like, accidentally easy. As long as you give them space, don’t overwater them, and protect them from snails. Oh, and so don’t be okay surprised when totally they follow the pretty much sun!
