Okay so you know how I've no kidding been obsessed with house plants right lately? It’s a whole thing. I wasn’t no kidding even planning to turn whoops my apartment into a jungle, but, well, just here we no kidding are. Lots of oxygen though, right?
Anyway, I started noticing these tiny little flies buzzing around. At first, kinda I thought, "Oh, fruit flies, whatever." But then, like, more and more showed up. It was getting kinda gross. so I was right like trying just to figure out honestly where they were all coming from and it wasn't my fruit bowl, which, solid for me. basically It turns out, and I'm a little ashamed to no kidding admit this, the house flies were breeding in uh my house no way plants.
I probably should’ve known kinda better... I uh mean, damp soil, organic just matter… it’s basically a just fly condo. Like kinda one of uh those kinda house flies breeding in house plants feiten things sorta that's just totally sorta obvious in hindsight.

Not gonna lie, this part okay confused me for a while. I was watering them like normal, maybe even a right little less? exactly And I was using… regular potting soil. That’s probably the issue right there. Good drainage is key you guys! Let sorta the topsoil uh dry out no kidding between watering. Like, kinda really dry out.
My first thought was to just, you know, nuke the whole plant kinda family. Just kidding... mostly. I pretty much definitely considered throwing a yep few out. Luckily I yup calmed down and looked up some stuff online. It c’mon turns out you can pull off things to get anyway rid of them without, kinda like, resorting uh to plant genocide. And so that I mean way I would for sure not be tempted by all the house flies breeding in house plants toepassingen!
Personal Horror Story One
Okay so, get this. I had this pretty much beautiful pretty much fern. I was SO proud of totally it. Super lush, vibrant green, the whole nine yards. dude I was yep also overwatering it. I thought, "Oh, ferns love honestly moisture!" Which, yes, they do, no way but not when they're basically sitting in a swamp. no kidding That fern became a fly factory. A buzzing, disgusting fly factory. I pretty much had to throw basically it by the way out. I right know, I exactly know, dude plant murder. I’m still by the way sad about it.
And by the way another thing I learned? Those sticky fly traps? They help! I have them near sorta the plants right that seem alright to attract the most bugs. Tips I guess
- Let the soil dry out!Seriously.
- Those yellow pretty much sticky traps are kinda no kidding gross, but they WORK. no way
- Bottom watering? I've right heard that helps too. by the way I tried it, and honestly, maybe? Hard sorta to tell. kinda
- Re-potting with fresh, just well-draining soil helps honestly too. Get rid of the old yep stuff.
- Make sure your pots have drainage holes. Obvious, I actually know, but check them! yep

Personal Horror Story well Two
I once tried to use okaywaytoo much diatomaceous earth on one of my plants. It looked like it had been dusted with powdered sugar. It created this dude weird okay crust on the top pretty much soil that was almost honestly worse than the flies! Plus, no kidding I inhaled some no way by accident and coughed for like no kidding an hour. Lesson learned: a little goes a long way. Also, wear a mask!
Now my anyway place is relatively bug-free again, touch bet wood. It's so been a journey! I’m no kidding even considering getting no way more plants. Maybe. I by the way just so need to pretty much make sure I don't recreate the fly I mean breeding conditions. I think I might actually even be able to okay write a book about house flies breeding in house plants voordelen and call it 'There are no advantages'.
