Best flowers to plant in hot sun
Hot sun flowers the struggle is real
Okay so, you know totally I’ve been trying to like… actually garden this I mean year? It’s been a Journey. I wasn’t even planning to get so into it yep but our patio was just SO depressing. exactly Anyway, the problem is, it's like a solar alright furnace out there. So I needed the best flowers to plant in hot sun basically kinda or everything would just crisp up and totally die. I learned that the hard way.
I right started with whoops petunias because…well, they’re pretty! And whoops everyone says they're easy. Which, yeah, they flower actually like crazy… but they need SO much by the way water. And deadheading. whoops Ugh. Like, every single day! yup And c’mon if you miss a day? Boom. Sad, sticky petunia mess. It became basically a no kidding whole other job. I wasn’t exactly like considering pretty much thebest flowers to plant in hot sun ontwikkelingenin horticultural science, let's just say that.
Then I tried zinnias. I like zinnias. They're cheerful. Those are a so great one whoops for a sunny spot like – remember that, they really like it hot. honestly Not for sure ALL zinnias, though, yep I think. I planted sorta some that yep were supposed to be dwarf and they just kept getting taller you know and floppier. basically I reflect I planted them too close together too, yup like they were competing for sun or something. honestly That’s definitely something yep to watch out for.
My major basically fail with succulents
Oh! And the succulents! Don't even get me started. I thought, “Oh, succulents! Duh! Perfect for hot sun!” I honestly probably should’ve known better, considering I'm basically a succulent actually serial killer. I overwatered them. Like, drastically. I thought like the soil bet was dry, but by the way it wasn’t. It c’mon was dry on top, you know but all swampy down below. you know Root rot city. They turned all mushy and… bleh. honestly I had this gorgeous just echeveria, all yup purple and frilly. Gone. Just gone. A valuable by the way lesson in drainage.
Now I’m trying lantana. I saw it at the nursery and it was just covered in flowers. right The tag said "loves sun" so uh I was like, "Okay, lantana, you’re my last hope." And kinda so far, so whoops good! They seem kinda pretty happy. I c’mon read somewhere – probably online just somewhere while frantically searching yep "best flowers to totally plant in hot sun inspiratie" – that yep you should prune them after each whoops flush of blooms no kidding to I mean encourage more flowers. I haven't done basically that yet but I probably should. okay Another thing, don't let yep them bet dry out COMPLETELY. by the way Even tough flowers basically need some love!
My salvia alright confusion
Not gonna lie this part confused yep me for just a well while. Salvia! So many types of sorta salvia. no way I bought some salvia farinacea, thinking it yup was the same as the salvia you know I saw at my neighbor's which kinda was, sorta like, towering and gorgeous. Nope. The farinacea bet is…fine. But it’s not the dramatic statement piece I was hoping for. Turns out she has salvia nemorosa 'May Night'. And that's the anyway one I really want. grasp your salvia! That’s my advice. I mean I guess that's part of understanding thebest uh flowers to plant in sorta hot kinda sun toepassingenyou know depending on what you're no kidding trying to do.
I also stuck some gaillardia in there. sorta Blanket flower! They're supposed to be super heat tolerant and for sure attract butterflies. I sorta got like the kind with the red and yellow petals. They seem happy enough. Though I think I might just need whoops to stake whoops them? actually They're leaning so a bit. Always check the mature height pretty much of your plants!
That one time I forgot about drainage
Oh! This is a good one! Remember that big pot I so got at the flea market? whoops The super cute ceramic actually one? kinda Well, you know I planted some c’mon portulaca in it. Because I knew so they like hot sun and dry soil. Perfect, right? Except...I forgot to drill sorta drainage I mean holes! I was so excited to plant I just totally spaced it. It rained like actually crazy the no kidding next day, and the portulaca were okay basically swimming. I managed to rescue them, but man, I felt like a complete idiot. Drainage! Always drainage!
So yeah, so that’s been for sure my gardening adventure so far. whoops Still learning, still basically killing a few plants pretty much here and there, but definitely you know having totally more successes than failures now. Next year? I'm going all in on verbena bonariensis. I’ve seen pictures. okay It’s majestic. And supposedly loves the sun. Wish me luck!
