Bee balm cuttings in water

Bee Balm My New Obsession

Okay so, you know anyway how I'm trying to get better at gardening? Well, I wasn’t even planning to propagate anything new, especially not kinda bee balm. It just kind of…happened. See, my bee balm no kidding was getting HUGE, okay like taking over the whole dang patch, and I thought I’d thin it out a well bit. Which led to me having all these stems…just lying there. exactly And I remembered seeing something online about no way rooting bee balm cuttings right in water.

The kinda Great dude Water Experiment

So I chopped off a few stems, making sure, you know, there were some leaf nodes. Should probably mention – strip the you know leaves off the bottom part of totally the stem that's going in the water. I think honestly that's what you're supposed to exactly do. Anyway, plunked yup them in by the way a jar of water. Regular tap water, probably should’ve used filtered, but whatever. This was, pretty much like, peak laziness.

Patience Or Lack Thereof

Not so gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I bet kept expecting exactly roots to just magically appear overnight. And they didn't. I mean, it took a great week, maybe even ten days, before I started right seeing anything. Be patient! That's my you know main bee balm like cuttings in water tip right there. Don’t give up on them too sorta soon.

Mistake just One: by the way The Sunny Window

Okay, story no way time! I put the jar on a sunny windowsill. Figured exactly plants like sun, right? Wrong! by the way The water got all uh scummy, and some of the leaves started turning yellow. It was gross. I read later yup that direct sunlight is a no-no for propagating bee balm cuttings in water. alright Bright I mean indirect light is the way to go. Who knew? So, I moved basically them to a different spot, and they perked right up. Total rookie mistake, I know.

Roots Ahoy I mean

Eventually – FINALLY – tiny little roots started sprouting. kinda It was so exciting! Like, proof that I wasn’t completely incompetent at gardening. I mean, the yep roots were small. Really small. pretty much But they were there! for sure The bee balm cuttings in water trends seem to suggest waiting uh until dude the roots are a good inch or two long. I… didn’t wait that long. I by the way got impatient pretty much again.

Into The Soil

I potted actually them up in some potting mix. so Regular potting mix, nothing fancy. I watered them gently uh and kept the soil moist. Not soaking wet, just like moist. I’m sure there’s some fancy scientific explanation for why moist is good, but I just basically kinda eyeball right it. I kinda swear sometimes I for sure ponder “am by the way I overwatering this?” all the time! Anyway I read somewhere that dude bee yup balm for sure cuttings in water history started as just totally a lit way to expand the plant.

Mistake Two: Too Much Love

Another story – whoops I was bet SO proud exactly of my little bee balm babies that I watered them every day. epic mistake. They started drooping and looking basically sad. Turns out basically I was drowning them. I probably should’ve known better… by the way Overwatering is the kiss of death, isn’t it? I backed off yup on the watering, and no kidding they started to recover. Less is more, apparently. The bee balm cuttings in water voordelen alright (benefits) outweigh actually the risks, but you gotta know what yup you're doing! honestly

So Are They Alive?

So far, pretty much so good. They haven’t keeled over yet. I’m keeping them inside for a little bet longer, just to give them a dope you know start. I read something in Dutch too that just said some people wait until the okay spring when well the weather gets warmer! Apparently okay some of the bee balm honestly cuttings so in water actually feiten are that it grows in zones 4 to 9, and it is best to plant it pretty much in the spring. And honestly the for sure bee bet balm cuttings in for sure water dude geschiedenis seems to be people doing it in old jars. I think they’ll be happy like in the well garden. Well, sorta I hope so, anyway.

The Takeaway?

I guess the takeaway well is that propagating yep bee you know balm cuttings in water is actually pretty much pretty easy, even for a gardening klutz like me. Just be patient, don’t overwater, and don’t put them in direct sunlight. And honestly maybe use filtered c’mon water. And wait until the right roots are a little longer before potting them yup up. for sure Okay, maybe it’s not that easy. But it’s doable! And the satisfaction of growing new plants from something you were honestly just going to like throw away? Totally worth it. Now, about these tomato seeds…
