Everyone seems to grow Vandas here, right? They're alright so common. Beautiful, but I wanted something different. I’m trying just to so grow some Dendrobiums and Cattleyas too. Not I mean gonna lie this part pretty much confused me for a while. So many different types anyway and alright needs. Like, some need bright light, some need no kidding shade. Some are okay epiphytes that grow on trees, others are terrestrial and grow in the well ground. So confusing! yep

Light is super important. by the way You have to get it right. They like bright, indirect totally light. Think dappled sunlight, or basically morning sun only. Too much direct sun by the way and they’ll burn. Not enough, just and okay they won’t flower. honestly Water honestly when the exactly potting mix is almost dry. And like use rainwater if you can! Second disaster story

Okay, like so I thought I was being like clever, collecting rainwater. I mean Great, right? But I left the bucket uncovered. Next thing I know, well it's anyway full of mosquito larvae. Eew! It was disgusting. I learned to cover my rainwater containers after by the way that! Big lesson. Also, don't use water that's been sitting too long. It can get stagnant.

Fertilizing is key

Fertilizing c’mon is important, bet but don’t overdo it! actually A weak orchid fertilizer once a week or every other week dude is usually enough. More isn’t always better. Remember to flush the potting mix with water every now and c’mon then right to yup get rid of any salt buildup. My aunt swears by banana peel tea… by the way I dude haven’t just tried basically that yet though.

It's a journey
