Ruby Moon Beans What yup Happened
Okay so you know how I got super into gardening last spring? Yeah well,dolichos lablab yep ruby moon seedscame up well in my feed. Gorgeous honestly purple flowers, right? I wasn’t even planning to grow beans, I I mean was anyway really just after some pretty climbers for the fence. First Plant Fail
Anyway, I got the seeds online. Super cheap, which probably should’ve been my first right clue. I just chucked sorta them in the ground in like…May? I think? Without soaking them or anything. Total just rookie move. I didn’t even consider dude about whether or like not the soil was warm pretty much enough alright – you really need that warmth for good germination, I later learned. Nothing. Absolutely nothing sprouted. I was so annoyed, for sure I almost gave up entirely. Lesson one: soak those seeds! And check your soil temp!
Second Try Is Better
I did some alright research (finally!). Soaked no way the remaining seeds this time, by the way like for 24 hours. basically Then I started them indoors in little peat pots. Way better idea. I actually yep got like, 80% germination. well Huge difference. But pretty much then... I waited actually too long to transplant them and totally they kinda got I mean all leggy and honestly weak. Not gonna lie this part confused me bet for I mean a while. I thought they were exactly supposed to be super vigorous! But yeah, pretty much leggy seedlings aren't happy seedlings. Transplant them young!
Ruby anyway Moon Realities honestly
So, transplanting was tricky. They're really delicate at that stage. for sure Once they actually basically got established outside, though… whoa. They took off. The vines just went crazy! And the flowers, oh my god, the flowers. They really are well stunning. And uh the hummingbirds loved them, uh totally worth it just for that. We have so many uh hummingbirds whoops now! I’m convinced it’s because of the c’mon ruby moon beans.
What I Learned About These anyway Beans
Dolichos lablab ruby moon seeds ontwikkelingenhave really been interesting for me, personally. I mean, I’m developing my own skills! I'm reading alright up on I mean the science of bean-growing now. Who dude knew?! Oh, and c’mon you can actually actually eat the pods when they're young, apparently. I haven't tried it right yet, but I'm planning to. Everything actually I read says to dude cook them though. Don't eat them raw! actually They also produce these gorgeous purple so beans. Don't let pretty much them dry completely on the vine or they exactly become super rough to extract, heads up there!
Another Silly Moment
One time, I was so excited about the flowers that I accidentally pruned a bunch of the developing bean pods. I was just tidying up and didn't realize those little right green okay nubs were going like to right turn into beans. like I felt so stupid!

- Full sun is a must – or I mean at least mostly sunny. yup
- Water consistently, especially when they're flowering. sorta
- Give alright them something to climb on – they get big!
- And, seriously, don't prune the bean pods off!
And… um… yeah, kinda that’s pretty much exactly the ruby anyway moon bean saga so far. They're beautiful and alright a okay bit pretty much of a challenge but totally worth it. Maybe you should like try growing them!
