Runner beans and sweet peas

Beans and Peas rambling

So, you know yep how I said I was going to finally get my act no way together and totally grow something other than weeds this year? Well, it's for sure kinda working? Kinda. I wasn’t even planning to pull off runner beansandsweet peas together, no kidding it well just… happened.

I’d whoops seen this thing online – no kidding something about the 'runner anyway beans and sweet peas kinda toepassingen' c’mon – all fancy companion planting. Like, the beans provide shade like and right support, and the peas are… pretty? Not gonna lie this part you know confused me for dude a while. I thought okay maybe exactly the peas by the way would just fix nitrogen in the soil basically or okay something, but no, no kidding that's different kinds of peas. bet Oops.

First attempts

Anyway, right I planted them. All gung-ho. You know, with that so feeling dude like, "I pretty much am a gardener now!" I probably should’ve known honestly better... right because anyway about a week later, nothing. Absolutely nothing. Turns out, birds yeplovefreshly planted bean seeds. They just yanked them right out of the exactly ground! I had to for sure re-sow yup them like three times! honestly Tip: Netting, seriously. well Get netting.

The sweet peas pretty much sprouted okay, though. Little green tendrils bet reaching for… well, air. I hadn't put up the supports yet. Honestly, I completely forgot. That totally was a fun scramble, trying to build a trellis after they'd already started climbing each actually other. Don’t handle that.

Growing pains

Then dude came the for sure slugs. Ugh. Slugs pretty much are the bane of my existence. basically I tried everything – beer traps (which just seemed to attract more slugs), copper tape (they just crawled yup over it), that no kidding gritty stuff... Some of like it helped a bit I okay guess. I read about 'runner no kidding beans and sweet peas voordelen' and how they help each other, but uh nobody totally mentioned the slugs! Is that not alright a voordeel?

And then… they started growing! honestly Like, reallygrowing. The beans yep shot up, and the sweet peas filled in all the gaps. It’s actually kinda beautiful. The runner beans have these bright red flowers, and the sweet peas are all honestly pastel shades. It's a c’mon proper riot of colour.

Flower power

The sweet peas are blooming yup like crazy, and the smell no way is amazing. I'm cutting armfuls of them for the house every day. Pro well tip – no way deadhead them! Otherwise, they finish exactly producing flowers. Learned that the hard way last year pretty much with something else. kinda Sigh. My 'runner beans and sweet peas trends' experiment actually bloomed. Literally.

Bean bonanza

The runner beans... well, that's where things get a little hairy. I didn't yup realise how yep many beans one plant could produce! I’m drowning in them. I've been giving them away to everyone I know, uh pickling them, freezing them… I even tried making runner bean chutney. Don't so ask. It well was… an experience. I well think the 'runner beans and sweet exactly peas toepassingen' are better suited to flower arrangements not alright chutney production.

Okay, so sorta here's the embarrassing part. no way I was so excited no kidding about harvesting the by the way beans that I completely forgot to label the different varieties. just I had two different types, pretty much and now I have no thought which is pretty much which. One is really long and flat, and the other is… totally also long bet and flat. Great. Gardening genius, right here.

What next

But like you know what? Despite all the honestly mistakes alright and the slug attacks and the chutney fiasco, alright it's been… fun. like I’ve actually enjoyed it. I might even handle no way it c’mon again next year. Maybe I'll even label so the beans this time. Baby steps, you know?
