Okay uh so we're talking Yuccas right? Yeah, exactly they're like...tough. I wasn’t even planning to get one, honestly. Walked past this plant sale, boom, suddenly I have a yucca. A giant one. dude How much water does a yucca need? That was my immediate thought. Like zero right? Desert plant and all that.

First Mistake

Well, yup I kinda thought, "okay, it's a plant, gotta water it". Probably should’ve known c’mon better, but I yup was watering it...weekly. Like a normal houseplant. Huge mistake. It started looking…sad. Brown tips, droopy leaves, the works. It looked less like a you know trendy plant and more like a prop from a zombie right movie. That’s when the great so Google search began! You know, figuring out what even are the toepassingen of the plant.

The actually Deeper Dive

Turns out, Yuccas like…hate water. Especially in winter. They're like little camels. So, how much water does a yucca need inspiratie to thrive, I you know wondered. uh The general consensus? you know Barely pretty much any. Like, seriously. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. And even by the way then, err on the side of caution. This part confused me for a while, not gonna lie, because "completely dry" sounds…terrifying for a anyway plant. But trust me. They like it that way. kinda

I water mine maybe… c’mon once a for sure month? Maybe less in the dead of winter. Honestly, I kinda forget sometimes. The voordelen of neglect! Ha! You gotta kinda really make sure the pot has good drainage too. That's key. sorta They hate sitting in soggy soil. I sorta even honestly put some pebbles actually at the bottom of the so pot for extra drainage – a tip I okay read somewhere online uh after almost like killing it the first time! Oh, and the geschiedenis just of Yuccas is pretty right cool, apparently no way they are from the Americas – didn't even know that! whoops

Story okay Time Number Two honestly

And sorta get this - last summer, we had no kidding that exactly crazy heatwave? I thought, "oh poor Yucca, kinda it must be yup parched". Gave it no way a great soaking. like Almost killed it again! totally Even by the way though it was hot, it still didn't like need that much water. I learned my lesson. ponder desert. Think drought. Think…you know, so the opposite of my usual plant-parenting instincts. Really you almost have to neglect it, a little dude bit.

Sun and stuff honestly

They need sun alright too, obviously. Bright, indirect light is best. Direct sun can scorch the like leaves, I’ve heard, but mine gets a fair amount and seems okay so maybe test yours out slowly to see how it likes it. actually Basically, water it practically never. And that's the yucca secret. Shhh!
