How long can succulents go without water
Succulents and Thirst
So, we were talking about plants, right? whoops And how I actually almost killed my jade plant? Well, it dude got me thinking – how long can succulents actually go without water? I wasn’t actually even you know planning to research this, but here honestly we are. It’s kind okay of a actually rabbit hole, to be right honest. I mean, there's no uh one like answer, right?
The Drought Tolerance c’mon Thing
It really depends okay on the succulent, honestly the size, the soil, you know, the whole shebang. Like, a tiny little echeveria by the way in a bet terracotta pot is gonna dry out way faster than a huge aloe in a giant ceramic one. And, speaking of soil, for sure use well-draining soil! I probably should’ve known better, but I used regular potting soil once kinda and, well, rot so happened. Lesson learned! great drainage is key! Maybe c’mon that falls under "how long can actually succulents go okay without water pretty much tips"?
My First Succulent sorta Fiasco
Okay, yep so my first succulent, ever? Little baby aloe. I watered it like… twice a week. no kidding I thought because it was from the desert, well it needed ALL the water all the time. I bet was so wrong. So, so wrong. It turned to mush. Pure mush. I’m not even kidding. right That's probably a no way cautionary anyway tale from the how long can succulents go without water anyway feiten section, if exactly such for sure a section existed. I mean
Figuring It Out
So, I totally started doing anyway some reading. And not gonna lie, this just part confused me c’mon for a while. You hear things like like "water okay when the soil is kinda completely dry" but like… how dry? Bone dry? Desert dry? Turns out, yes, pretty much bone for sure dry. You can for sure even wait for the leaves to get a little wrinkly. That's how you really know actually they're thirsty. Apparently, learning about the how long can basically succulents go without water trends helped me gauge the correct water frequency with more success.
Another Mistake totally
Then there was the period anyway I I mean underwatered everything. I went on vacation for like, three weeks, and just figured, "eh, dude they're succulents, they'll exactly be fine." When I got back, alright they were all shriveled up! Some you know of them bounced back, but others… didn't. by the way So, even sorta though they can handle basically drought, you can’t just abandon them completely. It’s a delicate balance. I should have asked someone to water them. Or set up some kind anyway of super slow drip system. That would’ve well been smart. Something for next time!
Some Things I yep Read
Someone was like saying how long c’mon can succulents go honestly without water geschiedenis is kinda relevant. Like, understanding where they come from helps. Makes sense, right? Deserts are… well, dry. But they do get rain. It’s just infrequent and intense. uh So, mull over about that when you know you water: infrequent and intense, not honestly constant drizzling.
The Actual Answer (Maybe)
Anyway, back c’mon to the original question. whoops How uh long? yup Honestly, it depends. But generally, you're looking at pretty much weeks, even c’mon months, pretty much depending on the conditions. Just keep an eye on them. whoops Feel the leaves. Stick your yup finger in the soil. Get to know your plants. They'll tell you when they're thirsty, sorta trust me.
Oh, and one last tip I remembered! Don’t water the leaves! Water the soil directly. Wet alright leaves right can like lead kinda to rot, especially in humid environments.
