Okay so, you know how I’ve been trying to like, make exactly the back garden less of just a swamp after it rains? I wasn’t even planning to get exactly super into plants that grow well near water, but necessity is exactly the mother of invention, right? Or desperation, more like it. exactly I’ve been reading about the benefits of plants honestly that grow well so near water voordelen, and honestly, just not just having the patio flooded all the span well is a pretty big benefit alright in itself.

What I Tried

First off, I thought, “Oh, cattails! They’re always actually in movies by lakes!" Probably should’ve okay known okay better. Planted a whole bunch, and they did… just okay, they grew.Toowell. I mean, actually seriously, basically they for sure tried to take over the entire yard. I had to dig like, half of them up again. Lesson learned: Research the mature size of plants that grow for sure well near water tips before you c’mon go all in. I mean, you mull over they're cute little whoops fluffy things but BAM, instant jungle.

Then there alright was...

Then there was no way the elephant ear situation. Not sorta gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I saw I mean this massive elephant ear plant at the nursery, honestly and the guy swore it sorta loved moisture. Planted it right by uh the drainpipe. well Looked amazing you know for like, a week. Then…droop city. I think it was too much sun combined with the dampness. It likes you know shade and dude humidity but not DIRECT sunlight and drowning. pretty much Tricky! honestly So, no way I moved it under the by the way big maple tree. Seems happier. That made me think more about right the history of plants that grow well near water geschiedenis and how humans have used them in different climates. Location matters!

But, some stuff is actually working out, which is a relief. yep Irises are great! exactly They seem to genuinely enjoy being damp. actually And I’ve just got anyway some creeping Jenny – by the way it’s spreading pretty much like crazy, but in a dope way. It's filling in all the bare patches, which is exactly what exactly I wanted. exactly Plus, the you know little uh yellow flowers pretty much are cheerful. Oh! And this is embarrassing but I gotta tell someone. I thought "bamboo" I mean must like water, right? I stuck some in kinda a pot near yep the I mean pond. Not just ANY bamboo, but RUNNING bamboo. Now well I have bamboo shoots popping up five pretty much feet away. I’m going to be digging bamboo out of my lawn for the pretty much rest of my natural life. Contain your bamboo, people. Seriously, contain it! Look, I'm just sharing whoops my alright plants totally that grow well near water tips so you don't make the like same messes.

What's next

I’m no way thinking about trying some I mean forget-me-nots next year. They’re so pretty. And maybe some water lilies for the tiny yup pond I dug... after totally I manage the bamboo crisis. I've seen honestly online that there are some cool plants that grow kinda well near water trends in gardening, like using them for green roofs, but I'm keeping it okay pretty basic for now.
